Windows Phone 8 OS




First Samsung and then Nokia preview their Windows Phone 8 mobiles. So in this blog we will see the the all about Windows Phone 8 OS.

Here is the some features:-

  • Bigger Screens: 1280x786 and 1280x720 is the new screen resolutions supported by Windows Phone 8. So in the coming time we will see the handsets with HD 720p displays.
  • IE 10: Browser in Windows Phone 8 will have the same web browsing engine which is in Windows 8.
  • Wallet: Windows Phone 8 will have new digital wallet feature. User can keep Debit card, credit card, boarding passes in it and can also pay at counters if paired with SIM.
  • Nokia Maps:  Windows Phone 8 will be having Nokia Maps as part of platform.
  • Removable microSD cards: With this features you can easy transfer your data ( music, photos, movies etc)  between your mobile and any other device supporting microSD card.
  • NFC wireless sharing:  Windows Phone 8 comes with NPC support. So share anything with any device in sort distance which is having NFC support.
  • Multi core processor:  Windows Phone 8 supports multi core processor. So vendor will have more choice to power their product.
Windows Phone 8 will be having something new for developers:-
  • Native code support:  Windows Phone 8 will have full support for C and C++, so developer can built applications for multiple platform easily.  Windows Phone 8 also has full support for gaming middleware and native DirectX based gaming support.
  • In-app purchase:  In Windows Phone 8 app makers can sell their virtual or digital goods within their apps.
  • VoIP apps:  Windows Phone 8 provide support for developing Integrated Internet Calling (VoIP) apps that plug into  Windows Phone 8's existing calling feature ( same calling interface for calls and internet calls).
Windows Phone 8 @ work

  • Company hub and apps: Windows Phone 8 Hub can be created by companies as per their need ( custom employee apps etc).
  • Better Security
  • Device encryption: In  Windows Phone 8 entire device can be encrypted including OS and data files
  • Remote management. 
Based on the features Windows Phone 8 looks promising. Its is looking batter than Android.

Windows Phone 8 is also having some drawbacks as :
  • Won't support old hardware so old windows mobile will not be able to use  Windows Phone 8  on it.
  • Non customisable. Vendors can not add apps as part of platform.
  • dual core processor can reduce the battery life.
I will compare it with iOS 6 in the coming blog after iOS 6 will be available.
